Day 1: - Arrival & Transfer to Kandy | Cultural City of the Hills

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly greeted and assisted by our representative. Later, proceed to Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty (approx. 3.5 hours’ drive). En route, you may visit the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (optional), where you can observe elephants being cared for, bathed, and fed by the river. Upon reaching Kandy, check in to your hotel and relax. In the evening, enjoy a guided city tour of Kandy, including a visit to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most revered Buddhist temples in the country. You may also opt to witness a traditional Cultural Dance Show, featuring vibrant Sri Lankan music and folk performances.

Day 2: - Kandy ➝ Nuwara Eliya | Journey through the Tea Country

After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, fondly known as “Little England” for its cool climate, colonial charm, and scenic landscapes (approximately 2.5 hours’ drive). En route, visit a tea plantation and factory to witness the fascinating process of Ceylon tea production and sample freshly brewed tea. You will also stop at the beautiful Ramboda Waterfalls, one of Sri Lanka’s most picturesque natural sights. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, check in to your hotel and relax. Later, enjoy a delightful city tour covering Gregory Lake, Victoria Park, and the historic red-bricked Post Office—signature landmarks of the town. You may take a leisurely walk through the quaint streets or enjoy an optional boat ride on Gregory Lake to soak in the serene surroundings.

Day 3: - Nuwara Eliya ➝ Ella Excursion

After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to the charming hill town of Ella. Enjoy one of the world’s most scenic train journeys from Nanu Oya to Ella (subject to availability), offering breathtaking views of lush tea estates, misty mountains, and cascading waterfalls along the way. Upon arrival in Ella, visit the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, a stunning colonial-era viaduct surrounded by dense greenery. Continue to Little Adam’s Peak, where a short and easy hike rewards you with sweeping panoramic views of the Ella Valley. You can also stop at the Ella Gap Viewpoint to admire the dramatic landscapes stretching far into the distance. Later, return to Nuwara Eliya for an overnight stay.

Day 4: - Nuwara Eliya ➝ Bentota | From Hills to the Golden Coast

After breakfast, proceed to Bentota, a serene beach destination on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, known for its golden sands and relaxed coastal charm (approximately 5.5 hours’ drive). En route, admire the breathtaking scenery as you travel down from the hills through lush tea plantations and cascading waterfalls. You may choose to stop at the picturesque St. Clair’s and Devon Falls or enjoy an adventurous white-water rafting experience at Kitulgala. Upon reaching Bentota, check in to your beach resort and take some time to relax by the tranquil waters of the Indian Ocean. The evening is free for you to unwind, enjoy the resort’s facilities, or take a leisurely stroll along the beautiful shoreline as the sun sets.

Day 5: - Bentota | Leisure & River Safari

Spend a relaxing morning at leisure by the beach or indulge in exciting water sports such as jet skiing, banana boat rides, and tube rides along the sparkling Bentota coastline. Later, embark on a scenic Madu River Boat Safari, where you’ll glide through serene mangroves and small islets rich with birdlife and aquatic creatures, offering a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s natural beauty. Continue your excursion with a visit to the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, a conservation center dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles and releasing hatchlings safely into the ocean. After a day filled with nature and adventure, return to your hotel for a peaceful evening at leisure.

Day 6: - Bentota ➝ Colombo | The Commercial Capital

After breakfast, depart for Colombo, Sri Lanka’s bustling commercial capital and largest city (approximately 2 hours’ drive). Upon arrival, enjoy a guided city tour that showcases the perfect blend of modern life and colonial charm. Visit key landmarks such as Galle Face Green, the Old Parliament, Independence Square, and the beautiful Gangaramaya Temple, known for its unique mix of architecture and cultural significance. Later, indulge in some shopping at popular outlets like Odel or House of Fashion, offering a wide range of local and international brands. In the evening, unwind and explore Colombo’s vibrant nightlife scene or enjoy a fine dining experience at one of the city’s elegant restaurants.

Day 7: - Departure

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and proceed to the airport for your onward journey. As you bid farewell to Sri Lanka, take with you wonderful memories of its rich cultural heritage, scenic hill country, and sun-kissed beaches. This marks the end of a memorable journey through the island’s diverse landscapes and warm hospitality, leaving you with experiences to cherish for a lifetime.

Advanced Preparation

As everyone is becoming a frequent traveller now, we suggest that you make your own travel accessories kit to ensure a stress free holiday.
Always make sure to carry less and light luggage, use a four wheel small or medium suitcase and please make sure that you are carrying only one suitcase per person. This will ensure that you will travel smartly and without any inconveniences.
It is also recommended that you have one cross shoulder bag or haversack for your handy needs which will ensure that you are comfortable at the time of sightseeing and also easy for photography during your tour.
A smart cap/hat and sunglasses are definitely something that you should have in your kit.
Though Veena World provides all three meals, that is breakfast, lunch, dinner and Veena World treats as per the itinerary, you can carry dry snacks of your choice in small sealed packets for munching during air travel or road journeys.
If you are travelling during the monsoon or to destinations where it is rainy, please carry a small umbrella or poncho.
For international tours, please carry a universal adapter for charging your cameras and mobile phones.
Ensure that your clothing and footwear is suitable for the destination you are travelling to.
