On arrival, head inside via the Observatory Entrance at 20 West 34th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues. Your helicopter flight takes off from Linden Municipal Airport in Linden New Jersey. Once you’re at the airport, board your helicopter. Your pilot takes off, and flies you right over Newark International Airport toward Manhattan. From the Statue of Liberty to Time Square, experience views of New York City lit up at night. Other areas you pass include the Financial District, Brooklyn, Queens, Chelsea, the West Village, SOHO, and TRIBECA. Seeing the entire 52-acre Garden would take a full day. If time is limited, visit a few of the many “gardens within the Garden,” or take a one-hour tour of seasonal highlights, offered most days. Brooklyn Botanic Garden is open year-round, and each season offers its own botanical wonders. Winter Highlights • See graceful evergreens and winter berries outdoors and tropical fruits and colorful orchids indoors. Early-Spring Highlights • Spring wildflowers, daffodils, magnolias, tulips, and cherries burst with bloom from late March through early May. Learn about the history of Brooklyn en route to the world-famous Brooklyn Bridge. Pass Lower Manhattan sites like City Hall and the Municipal Building along the way. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and learn about its history and architecture. The hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge is one of the oldest in the United States, dating back to 1869, when construction started. It spans 1,595 feet and was the first steel-wire suspension bridge ever constructed. Take in the incredible view of New York City landmarks from here, like the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower and the Chrysler Building, to name a few. In Brooklyn, head to the neighborhood of Dumbo, which stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. This area has become one of New York City’s premier arts districts, with venues like the Klompching Gallery, known for contemporary fine art photography; St Ann’s Warehouse, a performing arts institution; and the A.I.R. Gallery, the first all-female cooperative gallery in the United States. (Note: These galleries are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.) Visit Jacques Torres Chocolate, a popular shop featuring handmade artisan chocolates, for a truffle or cookie — or anything else that’s chocolate, of course. Finally, wind up the tour at the 85-acre Brooklyn Bridge Park along the East River.
